On March 16, 2022, the University of Danang (UD) in collaboration with JFE Steel Corporation (Japan) organized the award conferment ceremony to 8 students from the UD’s member universities.

Overview of the ceremony.

These are students who have overcome difficulties in life, reaped high academic achievements. They are from University of Science and Technology (4 students with full scholarships), University of Foreign Language Studies (1 student with full scholarship), University of Technology and Education, University of Economics, Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (1 partial scholarship for 1 student of each university).

A full scholarship is worth 60,000 Yen (equivalent to 11.6 million VND), while a partial scholarship is worth 30,000 Yen (equivalent to 5.8 million VND).

On this occasion, JFE Steel Corporation also sponsored an amount of finance to Japan Center – UD, with the total value of funding for the UD’s students and Japan Center is 500,000 Yen (equivalent to 98 million VND).

Attending the scholarship conferment ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Van Duong – Vice President of the UD; Dr. Kazuhisa Kabeya – Deputy General Director of the JFE Steel Research Lab, Dr. Takuya Murakami – Department-level Manager of JFE Steel Steel Research Lab (virtually connected from Japan); Mr. Yasumasa Yoshiki - General Director of JFE Steel Corporation in Vietnam.

The ceremony also drew the participation of leader representatives of the UD’s functional departments (International Cooperation, Student Affairs), Japan Center, the Office of Student Affairs of member universities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Van Duong – Vice President of the UD, acknowledged and appreciated the close cooperation between JFE Steel Corporation (Japan) and the UD over the years.

Vice President Ngo Van Duong affirmed, the promotion of cooperation between the UD and Japanese partners has helped students to cultivate and develop foreign language competence and work experience in the modern business environment, thereby contributing positively to developing human resources to meet the needs of cooperation, investment and operation of the business community in the two countries.

Mr. Yasumasa Yoshiki – General Director of JFE Steel Corporation in Vietnam expressed his pleasure to accompany the UD in human resource training, contributing to the strategic partnership between the two countries.

So far, 68 outstanding students of the UD have received scholarships from JFE Steel Corporation. Some students also had the opportunity to visit JFE Steel Research Lab.
