On the evening of October 21, 2024, at the Trung Vuong Theatre, the University of Danang (UD) held the Program “Honouring Valedictorians and promoting students in 2024”. This is a special annual event that, in its 12th year, vividly demonstrates that UD is a place that nurtures intellect and talent for the development of the Central Highlands region and the whole country.

Attending the program were leaders including Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vinh – Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Danang City Party Committee; Mr. Ngo Xuan Thang – Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Danang People's Council; Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi – Vice Chairman of the Danang People's Committee; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of UD; Mr. Le Cong Hung – Deputy Secretary in charge of the Danang Youth Union, Chairman of the Danang Student Association; Dr. Phan Minh Duc – Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the UD Council; Vice Presidents of UD: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Toan; representatives from the Danang Department of Education and Training, the Danang Association for Learning Promotion , and other leaders.

The event was also attended by representatives from sponsors, businesses, and media agencies from both central and local areas; the Chairman of the Trade Union, the Secretary of the Youth Union of UD; Rectors, Vice Rectors of member universities; Heads of departments within and under the UD; representatives of parents, as well as staff, faculty members, and nearly 500 new students of UD.

At the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, President of UD, warmly welcomed the leaders, delegates, faculty, parents, and students, emphasized the significance of the program, which honours the top incoming students from UD's member universities and affiliated units, and recognizes the outstanding achievements of students in the 2023-2024 academic year. This year’s event also holds special meaning as it is part of the celebrations marking UD’s 30th anniversary (1994-2024).

The UD President shared that, with its 30-year tradition of development and nearly 50 years of history from its member universities, UD has trained and produced tens of thousands of engineers, economic managers, experts, scientists, educators, and entrepreneurs in key fields.

It is truly proud to see so many successful alumni of the UD throughout the length of the country, holding key positions in Party and State agencies, organizations, businesses, and schools. They are present in nearly all major national projects and works.

Therefore, it can be said that UD is a cradle for training high-quality human resources, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the Central Highlands region in particular and the whole country in general. It remains a trusted address in the choices of parents and students.

He congratulated them on their excellent achievements in both learning and personal development during the past academic year. He encouraged them to continue maintaining their academic performance in the upcoming year, so they can always be the leaders in the student movement for learning and self-improvement at UD.

On this occasion, the leaders of the UD expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the noble gestures of the businesses that have been partnering and collaborating with UD, as well as the member universities. They acknowledged the continuous support for talented students and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Through their efforts, these businesses have actively raised tens of billions of VND annually from various sources to fund scholarships, helping to empower and create opportunities for students to pursue their dreams with greater ease.

UD has a great pleasure to receive the presence and involvement of rhe city's leadership at key events of UD and its member universities and consistent support and assistance from  businesses with sincere dedication. Their encouragement has been a tremendous motivation for both faculty and students in UD's mission of educating future generations.

At the ceremony, the leaders of the UD, along with the leaders of Da Nang City, honoured 9 new students who were valedictorians from 6 member universities of UD, including: University of Science and Technology, University of Economics, University of Science and Education, University of Foreign Language Studies, University of Technology and Education, Vietnam - Korea University of Information Technology and Communications, and 3 training units under UD: School of Medicine, the University of Danang - Kon Tum Campus, and the VNUK Institute for Research and Executive Education.

Each valedictorian was awarded a trophy from the program and a cash prize of 10 million VND.

6 outstanding students who were directly admitted were awarded the Program's Trophy and a cash prize of 4 million VND each.

32 exemplary students in learning and personal development during the 2023-2024 academic year received Certificates of Merit from the President of the UD and a cash prize of 3 million VND each.

60 students, including fresh students facing financial difficulties but demonstrating resilience and strong academic performance, were granted the UD Student Support Scholarship each receiving 5 million VND.

The total value of the awards and scholarships in the program amounted to over 500 million VND, reflecting the program's significance and UD's ongoing commitment to supporting students in their pursuit of knowledge and shaping their future, instilling confidence and motivation for their academic and personal development.
