The University of Danang signed a cooperation agreement with the Imex Pan Pacific Group (IPPG) and Response Consulting APAC PTY LTD, Australia

On the morning of April 12, at the University of Danang (UD) there was a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing Ceremony between UD and Imex Pan Pacific Group (IPPG) and Response Consulting APAC PTY LTD, Australia (Response Consulting APAC).

Attending the event were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of UD; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President of UD; Mr. Phillip Nguyen - Vice Chairman of IPPG; Mr. Roderick Glass - Director of Response Consulting APAC; Mr. Christopher Valoon - Director of AmCham of Commerce in Vietnam, Da Nang Branch; Mr. Michael Roberts - Representative of AusCham of Commerce in Vietnam; Mr. Edwin Law - Manager of AusHub Manager; Mr. Le Hoang Phuc – Vice Director of Danang Investment Promotion Agency; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hai - Deputy Director Da Nang Branch of IPPG.

Also attending were representatives of leaders of member/ affiliated units of IPPG and Response Consulting APAC; representatives of leaders UD’s Office of Administrative Affairs and relevant units of UD (Department of Students Affairs, Department of International Cooperation, Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Center for Employment Consulting and Self-Financed Oversea Studies, Center for Learning Resources and Communication).

At the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of UD warmly welcomed and appreciated the significance of the parties having a meeting, working and signing the MOU at UD. “This is a very important event, officially starting a new cooperation between UD and IPPG and Response Consulting APAC.”

The President of UD introduced to partners the overview and outstanding strengths of UD as a national key regional university, multi-disciplinary, multi-field including 06 member universities and institutes, faculties, and branches as UD’s affiliated training with a training scale of more than 55,000 students/ international students, and UD is one of the three major training and scientific research centers of the country.

UD has many strengths in training high-quality human resources in the fields of engineering-technology, economic management, business, natural sciences, humanities and social sciences, foreign languages, education, medicine-pharmacy, etc. Many alumni/ students of UD are now holding key positions in agencies, organizations, schools and businesses, making positive contributions to the socio-economic development of the Central Highlands region as well as the whole country: "We are very proud of the tradition and training quality of  UD".

In the determined strategy to develop into a National University, UD always attaches importance to promoting international cooperation and business cooperation; “considering the enterprise as a destination” for training, meeting the needs of society and businesses. Therefore, the presence of prestigious enterprises such as IPPG and Response Consulting APAC today is UD's honor, said the President of UD.

The President of UD highly appreciated the orientation and vision of the partners, especially when IPPG and Response Consulting APAC are cooperating with Da Nang city to develop a project of building Danang city into a regional-level Finance Center for the city development. In addition to the need for outstanding and preferential macroeconomic policies, in order to prepare for this project, the UD-University of Economics opened the Financial Technology major (Fintech) and started enrolling students and sending lecturers for advanced training in advanced countries, including Australia.

The President of UD proposed a number of key orientations, hoping that partners would pay attention and support UD to organize international conferences such as discussing solutions to develop the Financial Center in Da Nang, connecting and inviting international experts and professionals in the field attend to share experiences; supporting high-quality Fintech bachelor's training, meeting development and international integration requirements; supporting to introduce internship and job opportunities for UD students, especially Australian businesses: “Only a small percentage of UD's more than 55,000 students can do internship  and work at businesses of foreign prestige also plays an important role in training to meet and catch up with development and integration needs”.

Thanks to the partners for providing scholarships to support students, the President of UD expressed hope that partners and businesses will continue to pay attention and support scholarships to help students in the Central region who are still facing many difficulties due to natural disasters, epidemics to have more opportunities to excel in learning.

In the coming time, the demand for human resources in Australia is very large, for example, the State of Queensland needs about 280,000 employees in many fields and industries (information technology, construction, engineering, hospitality, food processing, etc.). APAC considers UD as the  a strategic partner in Vietnam to cooperate, realize the vision, meet the human resource needs for development - Response Consulting APAC representative emphasized.

At the ceremony, Mr. Phillip Nguyen - Vice Chairman of IPPG expressed his pleasure and gratitude to the leaders of UD for welcoming and signing a cooperation agreement with IPPG and Response Consulting APAC, focusing on improving training quality and effective use of human resources, meeting the needs of the domestic and international labor market.

The IPPG representative shared that Australia will host the Olympic Games in 2032 and the problem is how to train, supply and ensure the great human resource demand in the next 10 years that the parties involved today's discussion and cooperation to contribute to strengthening the connection and supply of high-quality human resources.

For Da Nang city in the development strategy, it is very necessary for human resources to attract investment and create economic growth. The investment project of the International Financial Center in Da Nang as well as the opening of the Fintech industry as mentioned by the President of UD is very important for the parties to work together for mutual benefits.

On this occasion, IPPG Vice Chairman Phillip Nguyen shared his intention to organize an economic cooperation forum on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia (1973-2023) in August 2023 in Da Nang city. The IPPG side expressed their hope that UD will participate and can help host a number of activities, including sports tournaments, which the IPPG will invite Australian partners such as the University of Queensland to attend.

According to the signed content, the parties will cooperate in fostering/ training skills, expertise and professionalism in such industries as: Economic Development and Business, Food Processing, Information Technology, Engineering, Hospitality, Nursing; Implementing the Program to improve skills for students including specialized English, soft skills and other professional skills, thereby helping UD students have more opportunities to foster and develop skills and expertise, profession, meeting the needs of the domestic and foreign labor market, especially Australian businesses and employers.

On this occasion, representatives of IPPG and Response Consulting APAC awarded scholarships to UD students with a total value of 27,000 Australian dollars. “This is not just about giving scholarship opportunities to students, but also contributing to creating a foundation for developing education and employment opportunities for UD students looking to the future,” the IPPG representative shared.
