On August 8, at The University of Danang - University of Science and Education (UD-UED), the opening ceremony of the 10^th National Mathematics Conference took place by the Vietnam Mathematics Society, Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, Institute of Mathematics - Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, University of Sciences – Vietnam National University in Hanoi, and UD-UED jointly organized.

Also attending the Conference were leaders of Departments under the Ministry of Education and Training and relevant ministries and branches and more than 1,000 delegates from universities and mathematics research institutes nationwide. The conference had 02 delegates who are foreign scientists and nearly 90 Vietnamese mathematicians working abroad, including leading scientists such as: Prof. Ngo Bao Chau (Chicago, USA and VIASM), Prof. Vu Ha Van (Yale, USA and VINBDI), Prof. Pham Huu Tiep (Rutgers, USA), Prof. Dinh Tien Cuong (NUS, Singapore), Prof. Phan Thanh Nam (LMU Munich, Germany), Prof. Nguyen Trong Toan (Penn State, USA), Prof. Nguyen Le Luc (Oxford, UK), Prof. Phan Duong Hieu (Telecom Paris, France), Prof. Tran Vinh Hung (Wisconsin, USA), Prof. Tran Trong Hien (NC State, USA), etc. A number of mathematicians and teachers from international schools and universities in Vietnam also registered to attend and report.

Speaking at the Conference, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son respectfully thanked, acknowledged and appreciated the contributions of the Vietnam Mathematics Society and the community of mathematics scientists to the education and training system of the country.

The Minister of Education and Training affirmed that Mathematics, and Mathematics education are extremely important components of then education system that is shifting strongly from equipping with knowledge to human development. Mathematics needs to be actively innovated in the direction of developing learners' thinking, directing students to bring mathematical thinking to solve life's problems, solve problems that arise to develop thinking.

It is necessary to make students love Mathematics and feel that Mathematics is useful for them and need to learn, Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized.

The leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training hope that mathematicians would pay attention and discuss how to take a step forward in innovating mathematics education in schools. The Ministry of Education and Training would continue to make policy recommendations in order to develop basic science fields as a foundation for other scientific fields, especially educational science.

According to Dr.Sc. Phan Xuan Dung - Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, this was a large, modern scientific conference, suitable to the interests of scientists and students nationwide in order to build and promote the development of Mathematics in Vietnam, and continue to affirm its reputation in the international arena.

This activity also has the meaning of welcoming the 9^th Congress, term 2023-2028 of the Vietnam Mathematical Society - a member of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and a member of the International Mathematical Union, Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, Dr.Sc. Phan Xuan Dung shared.

As the host university and co-organizer of the Conference, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Luu Trang – Rector of UD-UED said that the UD-UED always strives and makes efforts to contribute to the supply of high quality human resources, including future Mathematics lecturers and researchers, in order to contribute to the development of the country; affirms the mission and academic title of a key national university of Education, a member University of UD.

UD-UED was honored to co-host the country's major event of Mathematics

The 10^th National Mathematics Conference will take place from August 8 to 12 with a plenary session with 07 scientific reports, 10 subcommittees (Algebra - Number Theory, Geometry - Topology, Calculus, Methods Differential Programs and Dynamical Systems, Discrete Mathematics and Mathematical Foundations of Informatics, Optimization and Control Theory, Probability-Statistics-Data Science, Numerical Analysis and Applied Mathematics, Teaching and History of Mathematics, Partial Differential Equations) with 70 invited reports and more than 400 short reports.

On this occasion, the Congress of delegates of Vietnam Mathematical Society and a number of other activities took place such as: Seminar "Mathematics Education in Vietnam: Urgent Issues", Course "Fintech, AI and Blockchain: Universal knowledge for managers and policy makers".
