The University of Danang’s leader received the British Deputy Consul General in HCMC

On November 3, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President of The University of Danang (UD), hosted the delegation from the British Consulate General in HCMC led by H.E. Mr. Sam Wood – Deputy Consul General.

The meeting also drew the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Van Hoa – Cambridge Exams Manager, Mr. Nguyen Le Nam – Director of the Cambridge authorised center VN063 in Danang, Ms. Mai Nguyen Tra Mi – Business Development Manager of the Cambridge English Assessment, Ms. Ho Thi Kim Phuong – Trade Manager, Education Sector Lead of the British Consulate General in HCMC; leader representatives from the UD’s functional departments (International Cooperation, Academic Affairs, Science – Technology and Environment, Student Affairs), leader representatives from University of Foreign Language Studies - UD, VN-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education - UD.

Vice President of the UD, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son affirmed the importance of cooperation among the UD and UK institutions, such as Herriot-Watt University, University of Leeds, University of Southampton, Aston University, Hull University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, etc. Importantly, the UD also wished to boost the student mobility, which helps to send UD member universities’ students to have experience in the UK.

The UD’s leader and the British Consul General in HCMC discussed some measures to promote the VN-UK Institute which is a symbol of educational cooperation between the two countries.

According to Mr. Sam Wood, 2020 is a challenging year for the UK and Vietnam as the Covid-19 pandemic has been spreading across the world. As a result, the two countries have to find new ways to foster the relationship, especially educational cooperation for higher education institutions such as the UD and UK partners.

Deputy Consul General Sam Wood highly evaluated the results of cooperation among the UD and UK partners over the past period, which significantly contributed to the Vietnam – UK Strategic Partnership.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Van Hoa – representative of Cambridge English Assessment, attached the importance to the VN063 Test Center in the Central Vietnam and expressed his intention to develop this center in the coming time. Accordingly, the center possibly provides the opportunities of English learning and testing for a large number of students of the UD.
