The University of Danang’s students excellently won the first prize in the 2024 Star Awards National English Competition

On December 15, 2024, at the final round of the 2024 Star Award National English Competition for Students, team “Luminaries” including the UD’s students Bui Thao Ly, Vo Hong Phuc (School of Medicine and Pharmacy), Dinh Quynh Truc (University of Economics) excellently won the first prize.
This is a prestigious competition organized annually by the Youth Union of National Universities and Regional Universities, open to students of universities nationwide with the support of Wilmar CLV Group.

With the theme “Young Generation: Healthy Lifestyle for a Healthy Heart”, Star Award-2024 not only promotes and inspires English learning, contributing to improving the quality of foreign language teaching and learning in universities but also encourages students to cultivate and develop English skills in the international integration context.
At the Star Award-2024 Final round, 6 teams were selected through regional cluster rounds including: “Liems” team representing Hanoi cluster; “Powerpuff Girls” team representing Ho Chi Minh City cluster; “Luminaries” team representing Da Nang cluster; “Triumph” team representing Hue cluster; “ISStars” team representing Thai Nguyen cluster and the “Flawsome” team representing Can Tho cluster. The teams demonstrated their English proficiency, convinced the judges and the audience with their skills and understanding of language, culture and society.
The competition rounds include: Introduction round to show the characteristics and identity of the team and its university and region; Knowledge round to show intelligence, answer questions related to the topic, Courage round to show creative thinking and knowledge with proficient English skills.
With the confidence, courage and talent of the team members, “Luminaries” team of the UD won the First Prize, becoming the Champion of Star Award-2024 with a prize worth 40 million VND.
According to the representative of the organizing committee, this year's Star Award has increased and developed in scale, attracted more than 100,000 students from nearly 200 universities and colleges nationwide to participate in attractive competition rounds (Preliminary Test Round, Cluster Semi-final Round, Regional Cluster Final Round and National Final Round).
Up to now, since the Star Awards Competition was held in 2015, the UD’s students have won the national championship 3 times (in 2017, 2020 and 2024), convincingly affirming the quality of foreign language teaching and learning among students of member schools, thereby contributing to enhancing the prestige and reputation of UD as a leading center for training, scientific research and international cooperation in the national university education system.
