A student who graduated with First Class / Distinction Honors from The University of Danang (UD) - University of Science and Technology (DUT)  has conquered a Graduate Study and Research Scholarship at the University of South Alabama, USA.

Nguyen Hoang Nam, a 2021 cohort graduate with Distinction Honors in Biotechnology from the Faculty of Chemistry, UD-DUT, has received exciting news: he has been awarded a Graduate Study and Research Scholarship at the University of South Alabama, USA.

This scholarship was granted by Prof. Kaushik Venkiteshwaran and his research team. It covers 100% of the tuition fees and a monthly living stipend, providing Hoang Nam with the opportunity to continue pursuing his research topic: "Nutrient recovery from stormwater runoff by developing hybrid solutions that combine chemical adsorption and biotechnology".

According to Nguyen Hoang Nam, driven by his personal determination and the guidance and direction of his lecturers throughout his academic journey at the Faculty and the University, these achievements served as a compelling portfolio that secured him this prestigious international graduate scholarship.

Hoang Nam’s persistent dedication throughout his undergraduate years is marked by several notable milestones:

- Valedictorian of the 2021 Biotechnology undergraduate admissions cohort.

 - Leader of the "Household Food Waste Processing Bin" project in 2023, which was featured by major media outlets such as VnExpress, Tuoi tre, and VTV3.

- Winner of the Excellent Project Presentation Award at the 2022 E-Project Competition, co-organized by USAID, Arizona State University, and BUILD-IT.

Armed with an IELTS 7.5 certificate and a strong track record in academic studies and scientific research, Hoang Nam was honored to represent the Faculty of Chemistry at the SAKURA Science Exchange Program at Fukui University, Japan in 2024. He also participated in the TEEP program, completing a six-month graduation thesis at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) with a scholarship of 15,000 NTD per month.

Furthermore, Nam received admission offers and scholarship opportunities for Master’s programs from National Tsing Hua University and the National Health Research Institutes (Taiwan, China).
