On December 11, 2025, the University of Danang (UD) held an award ceremony in collaboration with the Japan–Vietnam Economic Committee under the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) to present the 2025 Keidanren and JCCI Scholarships to 20 UD students. Each scholarship is valued at VND 7 million, for a total of VND 140 million.

The event was attended by Mr. Takero Mori, Consul General of Japan in Danang; Mr. Mitsutaka Yasuda, Keidanren representative and General Director of Sumitomo Vietnam; Mr. Daisuke Suzuki, JCCI representative and Executive Director, Deputy Head of MUFG Bank Hanoi Branch; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Phuc, Vice Chairman of the UD Council; along with leaders of UD’s relevant departments (Science and International Cooperation; Student Affairs, Corporate Relations and Communications; Center for Employment Research and Consulting, Self-funded Study Abroad), representatives of the relevant offices of the universities, units, and students who are honored to receive this round of scholarships.

In his remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Phuc expressed sincere gratitude to Keidanren, JCCI, and partner organizations for their sustained support and the continued provision of scholarships that are meaningful both materially and spiritually, motivating UD students to excel in their studies and personal development.

UD leadership praised the longstanding, effective cooperation in training and research with strategic partners such as Keidanren and JCCI over the years. Notably, this marks the 25th consecutive year that UD students have received these prestigious scholarships.

UD also expressed its desire for continued support and partnership with Keidanren and JCCI in advancing education and training, developing and utilizing high-quality human resources; sending experts and scholars to share learning, research, and innovation experiences with students; participating in university–industry collaboration events; expanding internship and experiential opportunities in Japan’s professional work environments; and fostering cooperation in research, application of new knowledge and technologies, as well as cultural exchange between the two countries.

Congratulating the recipients, Mr. Mitsutaka Yasuda, Keidanren representative and General Director of Sumitomo Vietnam, emphasized that the scholarships convey a message of nurturing talent and strengthening the bridge of cooperation as “a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world” between the two countries on a shared path toward sustainable development.

According to Mr. Daisuke Suzuki, JCCI representative and Executive Director, Deputy Head of MUFG Bank Hanoi Branch, more than 2,000 outstanding students have received these scholarships over the past 20 years, including many from UD who have since flourished—among them numerous alumni who have launched successful careers and ventures both in Vietnam and in Japan.

Amid growing demand for high-quality human resources to support bilateral business cooperation across multiple sectors, the JCCI representative expressed hope that, through collaboration with UD and its students, there will be deeper engagement with Japanese enterprises and with Japan’s society and culture, and that students will pursue their passion for science and innovation to achieve success.

Representing the scholarship recipients, the students expressed their honor and gratitude to Keidanren, JCCI, and UD for their valued support, pledging to continue striving in their studies and personal development to build future careers.
