UD-UED launches Vietnamese Language and Culture Program for international students

On September 7 and 9, 2026, the University of Danang - University of Science and Education (UD-UED) held meetings with international students and the opening ceremony of the Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Culture Program for Foreigners for the 2026-2027 academic year.


Overview Meeting 

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Vice Rector of UD-UED, this is the fifth consecutive year that the Program has been organized, providing international students with opportunities to learn more about and improve their knowledge of the Vietnamese language and culture.

The University’s leadership, the Program originated from the 3+1 student exchange cooperation model between UD-UED and Guizhou Minzu University (China). Since 2021, UD-UED has organized the Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Culture Program for Foreigners, which has gradually expanded in both scope and participation.

The Program aims to enhance students’ Vietnamese language proficiency while providing opportunities for cultural experiences and exchanges, thereby helping international students integrate more quickly into their new environment and pursue their academic studies more effectively.

This year, the Program welcomes 22 international students from Guizhou Minzu University (China), along with learners from Canada, Thailand, Czech Republic, along with scholarship recipients under the Vietnamese government scholarship programs for Russia and China.

According to UD-UED’s leadership, this also marks a transition from bilateral cooperation models toward international training and capacity-building programs, contributing to the internationalization of higher education.


International students participating in the program

The Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Culture Program comprises 22 credits over one academic year and two semesters, covering a wide range of subjects and learning activities related to Vietnamese history and culture, traditional Vietnamese cultural practices, newspaper reading skills, Vietnamese language studies, appreciation of literary works and Vietnamese television dramas, specialized Vietnamese for Economics and Tourism, advanced Vietnamese, and selected topics at the upper-advanced level.


Presenting gifts to international students

In addition, international students have opportunities to participate in a variety of practical and enriching activities, including experiencing Vietnamese cultural traditions such as the Mid-Autumn Festival and Lunar New Year, making bánh chưng (square sticky rice cakes), practicing Vietnamese calligraphy, and, in particular, visiting scenic attractions and historical and cultural sites across Central Vietnam.

These activities provide international students with an authentic way to experience the Vietnamese language and the rich cultural identity of Vietnam while developing their Vietnamese language proficiency through practical, real-life experiences.
