Recently, students from Vietnam-UK Institute for Research and Training - the University of Danang (UD-VNUK) achieved outstanding results at WiDS Datathon++ 2025, an international data-science competition organized by Stanford University (USA). The event attracted participants from leading universities in 37 countries.

The VNUK team which won the Second Prize comprised Vo Long (Class of 21DS) and Le Minh Tam (Class of 22DDM). They developed predictive models for brain age using real-world fMRI data and analyzed gender-based neurological differences. Through this challenge, the team showcased creativity and solid data-science expertise, contributing to research aimed at improving public health.

The Third Prize went to another VNUK team consisting of Dang Cong Khai (Class of 23DS), Le To Uyen and Nguyen Pham Oanh Oanh (both Class of 22DBM), and Le Dinh Chinh (Class of 21CSE). By moving from basic regression models to automated model stacking and encoding, the team delivered superior performance and practical solutions, reflecting a strong integration of academic knowledge with international best practices.

VNUK student representatives highlighted the competition as a valuable platform for applying classroom learning in a global context, particularly in the rapidly evolving field of data science - a key pillar of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

These achievements not only equip VNUK students with critical skills and experience but also further elevate the international profile of the University of Danang, reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence and global integration.
