Students from the University of Danang (UD) won first prize at the regional final of the Star Award 2025, a national English competition for university students, held on November 15.

The IGJ team - comprising Dinh Nhu Duy Tue from the University of Science and Technology - UD and Tran Tuan Anh from the University of Science and Education - UD triumphed at the event, earning a trophy and a cash prize of VND 10 million.

Hosted by the Youth Union and Student Association of the University of Danang, the competition drew participants from universities across Danang and the Central Highlands. This year’s theme, “Generation Z: Voices on the Future,” encouraged students to demonstrate their English proficiency and creative thinking.

The regional final was attended by university leaders, representatives of sponsor Wilmar CLV Group, and delegates from various academic departments. Organizers highlighted the competition’s role in promoting English learning and preparing students for global citizenship.

After preliminary online rounds and semifinals, six teams advanced to the final, where they competed in three segments judged by a panel of experts in language and social sciences. The Power Rangers team from the University of Foreign Language Studies - UD took second place and received VND 5 million.

Three outstanding students - Dinh Nhu Duy Tue, Tran Tuan Anh, and Nguyen Thuy Tien - will represent Danang at the national finals.

Organizers said the competition not only fosters English proficiency and academic excellence but also strengthens connections among students and universities, supporting the broader goal of establishing English as a second language in Vietnamese higher education.
