From 23 to 25 September 2026, a delegation of faculty member and students from Vietnam-Korea University of Information Technology and Communications (VKU), the University of Danang (UD), participated in the SSIA Regional Faculty and Student Exchange Programme and the SSIA Summit 2026 in Singapore.

The activities marked a concrete first step in implementing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between The University of Danang and the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA), signed on 24 July 2026, turning the two parties’ shared priorities in education and training, university–industry engagement, and semiconductor talent development into practical initiatives.

The VKU delegation was led by Dr. Nguyen Vu Anh Quang, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Engineering and Electronics, and included three outstanding students majoring in Integrated Circuit Design: Tran Dang Nhat Tan, Ngo Minh Duc, and Nguyen Nhu Chi Kien. The three students were interviewed and selected by VKU to participate in the programme, giving them an opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to the academic, technological, and industry environment of Singapore’s semiconductor ecosystem. Organized by the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association, the programme brought together faculty members and students from Viet Nam, India, Indonesia, and Singapore, with the aim of strengthening connections between higher education institutions and the regional semiconductor industry.

As part of the programme, the VKU delegation took part in industry immersion activities at semiconductor facilities and companies in Singapore, where they had direct exchanges with industry leaders, managers, and engineers. The delegation also attended the SSIA Summit 2026, themed “Innovate and Scale Beyond Boundaries,” gaining insights into emerging trends in innovation, semiconductor supply chains, and cutting-edge technologies such as silicon photonics, quantum technologies, and advanced packaging. In addition, the delegation participated in the Regional Faculty Exchange Dialogue and various student networking activities.

These activities provided VKU faculty members with valuable practical perspectives on technological developments, industry demand, and industry-oriented education, while enabling students to broaden their knowledge, explore career pathways, and expand their professional networks in the semiconductor sector.

VKU’s participation demonstrates its proactive and flexible approach to implementing UD’s international cooperation agreements. Notably, VKU leveraged resources from its Capacity Building Project to support round-trip airfares and part of the living expenses for the participating faculty member and students. This approach helped turn international cooperation opportunities into tangible learning experiences and professional connections, while bringing the benefits of international partnerships closer to students, faculty members, and academic programmes.

Following the MOU signing of the UD–SSIA in Da Nang and its initial implementation through activities in Singapore, cooperation between the two sides is gradually moving beyond a formal agreement towards concrete collaboration in education and training, faculty and student exchanges, industry engagement, research, and innovation in the semiconductor sector.

With an ecosystem of more than 400 member companies actively engaged across the semiconductor value chain, the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) offers significant opportunities for The University of Danang to further expand cooperation in faculty and student exchanges, industry engagement, research, and innovation. These efforts will contribute to strengthening semiconductor talent development for Da Nang and Viet Nam, while fostering closer connections between higher education and the semiconductor industry in the region.
