Workshop series on academic applications of AI in training and research: Driving innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship

20/04/2026

Recently, member universities of the University of Danang (UD) including University of Foreign Languages (UFLS), University of Information Technology and Communications Vietnam-Korea (VKU) have collaborated with businesses and partners to organize a series of academic workshops on applying AI in training and research. These events attracted experts, entrepreneurs, lecturers, and students to participate and engage.

At the Workshop “GenAI, EMI, and the Future of English Language Teaching” held at UD - UFLS (April 18, 2026), the university collaborated with Victoria Wellington University (New Zealand) to create an active academic forum. This event opened up a vision towards the future application of technology and AI in teaching and researching English.

The keynote speaker was Associate Professor Dr. Jonathan Newton, Director of the TESOL Master’s Program and Applied Linguistics, who highlighted the emerging technological trends with a strong intersection between generative AI (GenAI) in English-medium instruction (EMI) and the development trends in language education. This also serves as an effective platform and tool to broaden opportunities for academic connection and exchange among researchers, lecturers, and students/learners.

In the context of rapid development of GenAI and the expanding scope of EMI, there is an urgent need for the education and research community to continuously innovate teaching methods and scientific research to keep pace with the booming application of AI and Industry 4.0 technologies. This is the appropriate direction to adapt and integrate with the rapid changes in the global academic environment, shared Dr. Huỳnh Ngọc Mai Kha, Vice Rector of UD - UFLS.

Earlier, on April 11, 2026, at the Workshop “Build with AI 2026 - Fuel the Future” held at UD-VKU, renowned experts in the field of Industry 4.0 shared insights on the trends and opportunities associated with the challenges of AI technology, based on platforms such as Antigravity and the Google ecosystem, including Gemini and Google AI Studio.

Speakers and experts from partners such as Mr. Đạt Nguyễn, Co-Founder of GDG Cloud Danang; Mr. Linh Nguyễn, Google Developer Expert in Machine Learning; Ms. Quỳnh Nguyễn, Co-Lead of GDG Cloud Danang; Mr. Tony Tín Nguyễn, Co-Founder of GDG Central Vietnam; and Mr. Hoàng Nguyễn, Tech Lead at Nimble, provided a wealth of information, knowledge, and cutting-edge technology. They offered multi-dimensional perspectives and inspired the application of AI across various industries and key sectors.

Through intensive practical activities (codelabs), students at UD-VKU receive hands-on guidance in designing and leveraging models to build safe agentic AI systems, utilizing Gemini and Safety Guardrails. These tools serve as foundational platforms to help users operate advanced AI systems while ensuring security and high reliability. Additionally, interactive and innovative technological activities such as “Vibecode with Antigravity” contributed to motivating students to engage with Industry 4.0 technologies.
