UD-DUT celebrated the 50th Anniversary Ceremony, marking five decades of establishment and development (1975-2025)

On July 5, 2025, The University of Danang - University of Science and Technology (UD-DUT) celebrated the 50th Anniversary Ceremony, marking five decades of establishment and development (July 11, 1975 - July 11, 2025).

The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son; Ngo Dong Hai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee, Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee; Doan Ngoc Hung Anh - Member of the Standing Committee of the Danang Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Council.

Distinguished guests also included Vo Cong Chanh - Head of the Danang Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee; To Van Hung - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Da Nang People's Committee; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - Member of the Danang Party Committee, President of UD; Dr. Phan Minh Duc - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of The UD Council; Prof. Dr. Bui Van Ga - former Deputy Minister of Education and Training, former President of UD, and former Rector of UD-DUT; Prof. Dr. Phan Quang Xung - former President of UD; Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nam - former President of UD and former Rector of UD-DUT.

Distinguished guests also included French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet, and officials from the Consulates General of Russia, Japan, China, and Laos in Da Nang, also attended the event. The celebration welcomed Vice Presidents of UD, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Toan; former leaders of UD through various periods; representatives from local authorities, agencies, organizations, universities, enterprises, domestic and international partners; representatives from member universities and affiliated units of UD; leaders of the Party Committee, Board of Rectors, University Council, former leaders, generations of educators, staff, employees, alumni, and current students of UD-DUT.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Hieu - Rector of UD-DUT, warmly welcomed and expressed deep gratitude to the leaders, distinguished guests, predecessors, educators, staff, alumni, and students who have laid the foundation and contributed their efforts and intellect to the university’s development over the past half-century.

Rector of UD-DUT highlighted the university’s key milestones and achievements, notably the training of over 80,000 engineers, architects, master’s and doctoral graduates who have excelled across various sectors, contributing significantly to national development.

UD-DUT has been recognized with numerous honors, including the title “Hero of Labor in the Renovation Era” (2020), the Second-class Independence Order (2022), and multiple awards from government bodies. Rector Nguyen Huu Hieu emphasized that these achievements belong to all generations who have contributed to the university's continuous progress over the past 50 years.

Looking ahead, UD-DUT is committed to further development, aiming to remain a leading institution in science and technology, and to continue contributing to the training of high-quality human resources in the era of national advancement.

Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son extended his congratulations, acknowledging UD-DUT’s remarkable progress in education, research, and innovation. He praised the university’s solid reputation and its role as a key provider of skilled professionals in engineering and technology.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of UD, commended the dedication of UD-DUT’s faculty and the determination of its students, noting that DUT is one of the three major centers for engineering education in Vietnam, alongside Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology; highlighted the university’s pivotal role in training experts and contributing scientific and technological innovations to the nation’s industrialization and modernization.

President Nguyen Ngoc Vu also recognized the silent sacrifices and immense contributions of UD-DUT’s faculty, staff, alumni, and students, affirming the university’s status as a symbol of intellect, creativity, and dedication within Vietnam’s higher education landscape.

As Vietnam and Da Nang embark on a new era of development, President Nguyen Ngoc Vu called on UD-DUT to focus on strategic growth, aiming to become a leading center for training, scientific research, and innovation, both nationally and internationally.

President Nguyen Ngoc Vu urged the university community to uphold its tradition of solidarity, innovation, and ambition, striving for breakthrough achievements and continued excellence.

The anniversary celebrations also featured a series of meaningful events, including the international conference “Technological Innovation for Sustainable Development” (TI4SD-2025), reunions of former faculty and staff, faculty and department anniversaries, and the cultural program “Connecting Journeys – Reaching New Heights.”
